About this PositionFunctions as a Medical Office Assistant in a professional medical office environment. Responsibilities range from processing patient visit utilizing clinical EMR system, receiving incoming calls, routing electronic phone notes to appropriate areas, facilitating patient check out process, running reports and preparing cash drawer for daily deposits to processing medical claims and payments. Individual will work a rotating late shift periodically with other Medical Office Assistants.
Candidates should possess a working knowledge of medical office procedures for proper coding and data entry purposes. Medical Office Assistant must maintain strict confidentiality of all patient health information. Effective listening, communication and customer service skills are required. All other duties as assigned. This position will require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Medical Office Assistant I:
Four years clerical and/or customer services experience.Medical Office Assistant II:
Medical Office Assistant I minimum qualifications plus 1 year medical office experienceMedical Office Assistant III:
Medical Office Assistant II minimum qualifications and two years at University Health Services.Medical Office Assistant IV:
Medical Office Assistant III minimum qualifications and five years at University HealthPost-secondary education may substitute for years of experience.
- Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Customer service skills, including in person, telephone communications, and digital interactions; adaptability to multitask digital and in person tasks; ability to handle cash accurately. Ability to learn and communicate medical terminology, processes, and procedures to patients, guests, vendors, and on campus partners.

Ability to perform all assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision.
