Reporting to the County Design Engineer the Part‑Time Engineer II/III – Project Manager will serve as an expert supporting the design and delivery of capital roadway, trail, parks, and bridge projects.
- Develop and implement standard design procedures, programs, and processes
- Determine, communicate, monitor and ensure data collection needs for complete analysis during design
- Provide professional and complex engineering elements to satisfy accepted engineering principles, regulatory constraints, County financial limits, and public participation needs
- Participate in consultant selection; review consultant plans for compliance with County standards and practices
- Prepare design studies for approval
- Experience leading a team of consultants, engineers, and technicians to ensure that project elements meet project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements
- Experience developing and leading a public engagement process for publicly led roadway, trail, bridge, and/or parks projects
- Experience developing, implementing, and managing standard design details, procedures, programs, and processes
Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
HOURS / DAYS0.5 (20 hours per week). Work schedules (hours and days) are subject to change based on department needs.
ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE$46.45 - $55.45 Hourly
(May be hired at the Engineer III level depending on qualifications)

The Engineer II provides complex highway design, traffic engineering, or mechanical engineering and analysis in the development and implementation of highway construction, traffic engineering and building construction projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from an accredited university or college with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or mechanical engineering and registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota with four years of experience, or equivalent. Experience must include two years in highway design, traffic engineering or mechanical design or engineering.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in PC‑based design programs and CAD are desirable.
