The Role
The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations, ensuring the safe and compliant operation of the fleet. This role supervises CDL drivers, ensures compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations, partners with maintenance and warehouse teams, and supports on‑time deliveries. The Transportation Manager must be available after hours to respond to urgent transportation issues.
ScheduleTuesday through Saturday – Noon to 8 pm. Schedule and working hours flexibility required.
What you will be doing each day- Supervise, coach, and support a team of CDL drivers
- Monitor driver performance using fleet management and GPS systems
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT regulations, inspections, and documentation
- Train drivers on proper operation of demountable chassis/box equipment
- Investigate accidents and incidents and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with DC and warehouse operations to ensure on‑time deliveries
- Develop contingency plans for weather disruptions
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and retaining drivers
- Conduct team and monthly safety meetings
- Cover routes as needed when drivers are absent
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid CDL with 2+ years of driving experience and a clean driving record
- Transportation or fleet management experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations and safety standards
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond after hours as needed
