Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, were enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Distribution and connections team. As one of the largest Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) in the UK, we support distribution network operations across infrastructure.
Our team installs and maintains distribution networks and ensures reliable connections for customers. Carrying out electrical planned work, customer connections and network reinforcement. Want to become part of it? What you'll be doing? As a Cable Jointers Mate, youll be working alongside experienced Cable Jointers on both high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) networks. Youll get hands-on with underground power cables, helping with jointing, terminations, fault repairs, and general installation work on our UK Power Networks contract.
Its also a great stepping-stone role, with clear routes to progress into a Qualified Cable Jointer, Site Supervisor, or other technical roles across M Group Energys growing energy business. Support Cable Jointers with day-to-day HV/LV jointing and termination tasks Help set up the worksite - signs, lights, barriers, all the safety essentials Keep tools, jointing kits, and equipment ready to go Get involved in excavation, reinstatement, and moving materials and cables Prep cables for jointing, stripping, and sheath testing under supervision Keep the site tidy and organised Follow all safety rules, especially around live cables Help with testing, recording, and basic paperwork (risk assessments, joint cards, etc.)
Stay in good communication with your team and supervisors What youll bring No formal qualifications needed - well train you Basic understanding of electrical safety is helpful Physically fit and happy working outdoors in all weather Reliable, positive, and good in a team Strong focus on safety and doing things right Full UK driving licence Working Conditions Mostly outdoor, site-based work - sometimes in tight or tricky spaces Physical work, working in all weathers Occasional weekend or out-of-hours shift
