As Senior Research Nurse, the post holder will be responsible for delegated leadership and management of a team of nurses/AHPs. The role will involve setting up and recruiting patients to a variety of high quality research studies for medical and surgical specialties, including commercially sponsored studies. You will be part of a well supported research delivery staff within a Trust that views research as an essential part of everyday activity to enhance patient experience and outcomes through research and innovation.

The post holder will take responsibility for the co-ordination and management of a clinical research portfolio, collaborating with key personnel throughout the NIHR Clinical Research Network/ENHT to ensure continued care and support for patients involved in clinical trials.

The post holder will be responsible for the safe administration of experimental drugs and for monitoring the expected and unexpected side effects of drugs and other treatment modalities. They will be expected to have sufficient skills to enable patients to make informed choices concerning their involvement in the clinical trials by providing advice and information and acting as the patients advocate.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of nurses/AHPs within the clinical research portfolio.
  • Set up and recruit patients to high quality research studies across medical and surgical specialties, including commercially sponsored studies.
  • Coordinate and manage clinical research activities in collaboration with NIHR Clinical Research Network/ENHT to support patients in clinical trials.
  • Ensure safe administration of experimental drugs and monitor expected and unexpected side effects.
  • Provide information and advice to patients to help them make informed decisions about trial participation and act as their advocate.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Experience in clinical research settings with leadership or management responsibilities.
  • Ability to enable patients to make informed choices about trial participation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
