Quality Controller

Job Description:

Job Type: Temporary to Permanent (may become permanent immediately)
Pay Rate: £13.34 per hour (rising to £13.76 during Senior Level technical training)

Shifts:

* Days: 07:00 – 19:00

* Nights: 19:00 – 07:00

* Paid: 11 hours per shift

* Pattern:
Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Sunday

* Vacancies: 2 x Days, 1 x Nights

Job Purpose

To ensure all fresh produce packed and distributed meets customer quality standards while supporting safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. Assist in maintaining and implementing site Quality policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

* Inspect incoming and outgoing produce for quality, size, condition, and specification compliance.

* Check packaging integrity, including correct air pressure levels and weight accuracy of vegetables.

* Conduct daily quality checks, temperature monitoring, and traceability controls.

* Complete intake, rejection, rework, shelf-life, and quality reports accurately.

* Identify and report defects, non-conformances, and supplier issues.

* Support food safety and hygiene compliance (HACCP/GMP/GAP).

* Assist with product recalls, stock control, and shift handovers.

Requirements

* Previous experience in the food sector is essential.

* Experience checking packaging air pressure and product weights.

* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

* Good communication and basic IT/reporting skills.

* Comfortable working in cold, fast-paced environments with flexible hours.
