The Role - Fine Limit Sheet Metal WorkerThis position sits within the client's specialist fabrication team and focuses on the production of high-precision, aerospace-grade sheet metal components. You will work from detailed engineering drawings and specifications, using both traditional and advanced fine-limit techniques to form, assemble and finish complex parts to extremely tight tolerances.
The role involves hands‑on work with prototype panels, complex geometries and exotic materials, requiring a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Fabrication and forming of precision sheet metal components including bending, cutting, pressing, riveting, stretch forming, drilling, deburring and final inspection.
- Working to fine tolerances on materials such as aluminium, stainless steel, titanium and Inconel.
- Reading and interpreting detailed aerospace drawings, sketches and technical instructions.
- Setting and operating equipment including brake press, fly press, linisher and specialist forming machinery.
- Hand‑forming prototype and low‑volume complex components using fine‑limit techniques.
- Carrying out trimming, filing, grinding and finishing operations to aerospace standards.
- Ensuring all work meets drawing requirements, quality standards and customer specifications.
- Supporting the integration of fabricated parts with precision machined components.
- Proven background in precision sheet metal fabrication and fine-limit engineering.
- Previous experience within aerospace or defence manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of hand‑forming techniques and complex geometric shaping.
- Experience working with exotic alloys
- Ability to work to extremely tight tolerances and strict quality standards.
- Confident integrating fabricated assemblies with machined parts.
- Exceptional attention to detail and pride in high-quality workmanship.
- Able to interpret complex drawings and technical data accurately.
- Self‑motivated, reliable and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a methodical approach to work.
- Clear communicator with a proactive attitude to quality and continuous improvement
