Position: Day Controller Planner/SPLA Control Room (West) | East of England Ambulance Service Trust

Overview

We are looking for a dynamic thinker to support our Control Team in Stevenage. The role involves overseeing and planning patient journeys to and from home or health care settings using our cleric system, ensuring key performance indicators are met and patient journeys are pre‑planned effectively using available resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Control PTS ambulance resources, including volunteer car service drivers for the day, monitoring and making real‑time adjustments to optimise delivery and maintain an excellent standard of patient experience.
  • Forward plan patient transport, ensuring optimal use of available resources to maximise efficiency.
  • Monitor journey times and proactively rearrange journeys to support both the service and the patient experience.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Calm approach under pressure and strong customer service skills, liaising with patients, clinics and staff.
  • Geographical knowledge of West Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.
  • Commitment to complete a 3‑week training course at various trust locations such as Epping and Chelmsford, requiring independent travel.
  • Flexible, reliable and able to cover a relief basis across a range of shifts (06:00 – 22:00) seven days a week, with a 9‑week rota released in advance.
