Overview
We are looking for a dynamic thinker to support our Control Team in Stevenage. The role involves on the day overseeing and planning of patient journeys to and from home / health care setting using our cleric system and against set key performance indicators and pre-planning patient journeys effectively using available resources. Our patients have varying clinical and mobility needs, some of our patients travel regularly with us into renal and oncology units.
Our patients and staff are our priority, ensuring we show care, compassion and empathy.
You will need a calm approach under pressure, have geographical knowledge of West Essex, Hertfordshire and outlying areas. Customer service skills are also key as you will be liaising with patients, clinics and our staff, keeping calm under pressure and following the Trust's vision and values.
The workplace for this vacancy is at our Stevenage Ambulance Station. Applicants should live within 1 hour of this location.
Responsibilities- Responsibility for the control of PTS ambulance resources, including volunteer car service drivers for the current day, monitoring, and making real-time adjustments to optimise delivery and maintain an effective service and excellent standard of patient experience.
- Forward plan patient transport, ensuring optimal use of available resources to maximise efficiency.
- Monitor journey times, proactively rearranging journeys to support both the service and patient experience.
- Commit to and complete a 3‑week training course located in various locations across the trust such as Epping and Chelmsford, requiring the ability to travel independently.
- Work on a relief basis covering a range of shifts between 06:00 – 22:00 hrs, 7 days a week, with a 9‑week rota available in advance.
- Be flexible and reliable.

- 24 hour, 365 days a year urgent care provision across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
