- Provide a qualified clinical psychology service to children, adolescents and their families with complex psychological difficulties associated with diabetes.
- Work within a multi‑disciplinary team in the Children and Young People's Diabetes Service to assess and meet the psychological needs of the client group.
- Offer psychological assessment and treatment for children, adolescents and their families with a diagnosis of diabetes and medically related emotional problems under the care of the service.
- Formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a patient's mental health needs, based on an appropriate conceptual framework.
- Implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining formulations and maintaining provisional hypotheses.
- Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, taking into account theoretical models and highly complex factors such as historical, physiological/medical, social and developmental processes.
This is a developmental post for applicants at band 7, with growth to band 8A when competencies are met.
We welcome applications from 3rd‑year clinical psychology trainees who are due to qualify this year.
Working ConditionsIf advertised as a temporary position, the duration will be specified in the advert. Should the vacancy become permanent towards the end of the specified period, the successful applicant may not need to re‑apply and may be slotted into the role on a permanent basis if appropriate.
