About you

East and North Older People's Service operate four locality teams covering North Herts, Stevenage, Broxbourne/Welwyn/Hatfield, and East Herts. Each team includes managers, advanced practitioners, social workers, occupational therapists, and community care officers. They provide longer-term support in community and care home settings, carrying out Connected Lives assessments and reviews, and assisting individuals with complex needs, including safeguarding.

Alongside these, our Community and Residential Review Teams deliver scheduled reviews and offer extra support during unforeseen situations. Integrated services include the Early Intervention Vehicle (EIV), a joint health initiative providing timely support;
Continuing Healthcare Team, supporting assessments for CHC, and the Safeguarding Out of Hours Service (SOOHS), offering emergency care evenings and weekends. We also have a Mental Health Inpatient Team ensuring safe discharges.

All teams collaborate under the Area Management Team to deliver a cohesive, high-quality service.

About the role

This senior level professional role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced frontline manager to showcase their inspirational leadership skills and contribute to the strategic direction and high performance of the East and North Older People's Service.

Embedding the change in management structure, you will work closely with other Service Managers and the Deputy Heads of Service to provide senior operational oversight and management support to the Team Managers in the locality and review teams.

You will be responsible for supporting and developing our staff to deliver excellent professional practice, embracing empowerment, tackling isolation, promoting independence choice and control, and helping people to make the most of the services in their local community. Alongside championing integrated working with health partners and assisting in service management across the community.

Your role will be to support the drive-in establishing equity and equality in service delivery across the area, ensuring good practice and creative approaches in line with the Department's Connected Lives principles and EEDI Framework leading to positive outcomes for the people of Hertfordshire.
