Switchboard Operator

Responsibilities

• Answering internal and external calls directed to the operator. Performs switchboard operation and answering, responds to emergency calls to special telephone numbers, pages personnel and physicians via voice and paging services, responds to and announces fire alarms and other emergency signals, knows how to operate equipment related to job function, maintains accurate records relating to calls.

• Education:
  
  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). 20 wpm typing requirements. Must have the ability to read, write and understand the English language. Must follow oral and written directions.
• Training and
  
  Experience:
  
  Previous switchboard experience preferred. On-the-job training provided. Basic computer skills required.
• Health and Background Requirements:
  Employment contingent upon successful completion of physical assessment.
• Physical:
  Must be physically able to perform all job duties as assigned.
