Job Description
Perform pre‑termination procedures: organize, form, and dress cables and determine length, slack, and label cables. Suspend and support cable correctly using cable tray, J‑hook, D‑rings, Bridal rings, and Trapeze. Build closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross‑connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware. Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
Responsibilities- Install a work‑area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates and surface‑mount boxes, and adhere to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards).
- Build closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross‑connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware.
- Complete all IDC connections (e.g., terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).
- Perform testing: continuity tests on horizontal and riser cable; use a volt‑ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable; use a tone set.
- Identify active voice or data circuits.
- Assume responsibility for effective performance of crew, provide necessary training, coordinate personnel, and timeline to complete projects.
- Fully complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and others as required).
- Adhere to and participate in all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
- Experience pulling fiber optic cable.
- Experience testing with Fluke.
- Experience terminating copper and fiber.
- Experience dressing cable is a plus.
- Clear communication, dependability, and ability to pass a drug test.
- Self‑motivated, positive approach, professionalism, and ability to drive project process improvements.
- Promotion of company culture and mission to employees, vendors, clients, and partners.
- Act as company liaison for interfaces with customer representatives.
- Proven problem‑solving and critical thinking skills and ability to read, write, and give oral presentations.
- Work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lb and move up to 75 lb.
- Good color vision, ability to read small print, and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
- Travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.

Contract position based out of Sterling, VA. Fully onsite position.
PayThe pay range for this position is $23.00 – $27.00/hr.
