Diesel Mechanic Life

• SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
  220).
• Complete all OEM on-line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix (completed within 365 days).
• Complete Instructor led OEM courses as required to support location fleet mix.
• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs with minimal support.
• Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support using diagnostic computers/software when applicable.
• Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns.
• Perform facility maintenance duties and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint.
• Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics.
• Coach/mentor other level technicians; advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs.
• Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation; work in accordance with all safety, DOT, MOT and corporate compliance guidelines.
• Provide other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support).

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification, Post-Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work); diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical systems); and advanced repairs (major engine repairs, diesel after treatment or automotive fuel injection repairs).
• Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred.
• All other certifications as required by location.
• Ability to perform all T3 tasks; ability to operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to work shift work/weekends and on-call as required.

• Prefer ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic.
• Minimum tool requirements; ability to road test vehicles as necessary; demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/influence others.
• Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles and obtain CDL within 6 months after hire; pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background and motor vehicle check (last 3 years).
