Position Summary
The Nurse Manager of Behavioral Health is responsible for the daily operations of the Behavioral Health Nursing Department within an acute care setting. This leader ensures safe, high-quality patient care through effective management of staff, collaboration with House Supervisors and Charge Nurses, and oversight of clinical and operational workflows.
The Nurse Manager will drive patient safety initiatives, staff engagement, regulatory compliance, and quality outcomes while fostering a collaborative interdisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations of the Behavioral Health Nursing Department
Supervise and support Charge Nurses and House Supervisors
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices
Oversee staffing, scheduling, and performance management
Promote quality improvement initiatives and patient safety standards
Lead and mentor nursing staff within an acute behavioral health environment
Support strategic goals and departmental growth initiatives
Requirements
BSN required
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Nursing Manager, Supervisor, or Clinical Team Lead in an acute care Behavioral Health unit
BLS certification (within 30 days of hire)
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI or equivalent) within 30 days of hire
Ideal Candidate Profile
Strong leadership experience in acute inpatient psychiatric settings
Demonstrated ability to manage teams and drive quality outcomes
Experience with crisis intervention and behavioral health safety protocols
Effective communicator with strong organizational and operational management skills
