Position: Systems Engineer PPO (Cloud) with Security Clearance

Nightwing provides technically advanced full-spectrum cyber, data operations, systems integration and intelligence mission support services for our customers, including cyber space operations, cyber defense and resiliency, vulnerability research, ubiquitous technical surveillance, data intelligence, lifecycle mission enablement, and software modernization. We support a U.S. Government customer on a large mission‑critical development and sustainment program to design, build, deliver, and operate a network operations environment, introducing new cyber capabilities to address emerging threats.

Position

Summary

We are seeking a SAFe Proxy Product Owner (Cloud) to support the design, development, and deployment of advanced cybersecurity capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and collaborate within an Agile Scrum team as an Agile Release Train (ART) lead responsible for developing advanced, cloud‑oriented automation and orchestration architectures that provide rigorous, self‑validating cybersecurity capabilities.
  • Lead and facilitate team‑related Agile events (PI Planning, Release Governance, Stand‑Ups, Sprint Planning, etc.) while maintaining all artifacts (Backlogs, Decisions, Blockers, etc.).
  • Eliminate impediments and actively address issues so the team remains focused on achieving the objectives of the Program Increment (PI).
  • Escalate blocking issues beyond the team’s authority to other teams or support functions.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment through coaching and appropriate leadership.
  • Prepare and ensure readiness for ART events (e.g., PI Planning, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt, etc.).
  • Review high‑quality technical documentation, including user guides, test plans, and contract deliverables, and support product training.
  • Lead Agile Scrum teams in the system design and implementation of advanced, cloud‑oriented autonomous cybersecurity capabilities.
  • Interface directly with customers, stakeholders, and end‑users regarding capability architectures, requirements, use cases, and stories to derive, develop, and decompose next‑cycle updates and specifications.
  • Provide full lifecycle oversight of requirements‑driven automation architecture.
Required Skills
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active Secret (S) clearance; must be able to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability.
  • Proven leadership skills and meaningful experience successfully leading infrastructure as code (IaC) projects.
  • Experience communicating with program leadership.
  • Independently driven with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in a technology related field.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in complex autonomous package builds, autonomous API‑driven backends, infrastructure automation and orchestration, event‑driven micro‑service architectures, orchestrated infrastructure automation, or configuration‑driven deployments.
  • 2+ years of experience in either AWS, MS Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong working knowledge of multi‑environment autonomous orchestration, automation tooling, pipeline deployments, or software application integration.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience leading teams and projects at either the tech lead or product owner level.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins, Artifactory, Jira, Git, Ansible, Chef, AWS Lambda, Terraform, or cloud native tools like Cloud Formation.
  • Programming experience in Java, JavaScript, .NET, Python, or Ruby.
  • Familiarity with using, updating, and programmatically manipulating Linux and Windows.
  • Experience with NTP, DNS, Networking, LDAP, or software repositories.
  • Experience with branching and release strategies, CI/CD pipelines.
  • AWS cloud technology knowledge and implementation experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing event‑driven microservice architectures.
  • Experience in technical oversight of individuals and projects.
  • Experience working in Dev Ops and/or Dev Sec Ops  environments.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with agile tools, including Jira and Jira Align.
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree‑level education.
  • Desired certifications:
    DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II;
    Agile development and SAFe certifications such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe Practitioner (SP), or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC).
