EMPLOYMENT TYPE:

Full-time, Onsite POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a Systems Test Engineer to plan, execute, and validate the performance, reliability, and security of mission‑critical systems supporting national security operations. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with hands‑on experience developing and executing comprehensive test strategies across complex, integrated environments to ensure systems meet rigorous mission and accreditation requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to)
  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and cases for system validation and verification in cloud‑based classified information systems.
  • Evaluate system performance, functionality, and interoperability across hardware, software, and network components.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, developers, and security teams to define test objectives and acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct integration, regression, and performance testing to identify and resolve defects early in the lifecycle.
  • Support test environment setup, configuration, and data preparation.
  • Document test results, anomalies, and recommendations in support of engineering and accreditation processes.
  • Participate in technical reviews, readiness assessments, and system acceptance testing.
  • Provide feedback to engineering teams on design improvements and operational risks.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and results to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Support automation of test processes where feasible to improve efficiency and repeatability.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) TS/SCI with CI Polygraph security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Professional certifications such as ISTQB, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Sys Ops Administrator, or Developer).
  • 7+ years of experience in systems testing, integration, or verification within enterprise or mission environments.
  • Proven experience developing and executing test plans, procedures, and reports for complex systems.
  • Experience supporting system accreditation, validation, or certification efforts.
  • Experience consolidating and managing test results in Service Now or comparable ITSM/test management platforms.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements analysis and verification.
  • Familiarity with test management tools, scripting, or automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with testing and validating systems within CI/CD pipelines to support automated deployment and verification.
  • Familiarity with cross‑domain infrastructure and testing environments supporting data transfer between security domains.
  • Ability to analyze results, identify root causes, and communicate findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience using testing and automation tools such as Selenium, JMeter, Postman, PyTest, or Robot Framework for system and integration testing.
  • Experience supporting defense or Intelligence Community (IC) programs.
  • Experience running test programs within continuous integration and Dev Sec Ops  environments.
  • Working knowledge of system monitoring and performance metrics.
  • Experience with setting up, running and reporting in virtualized or cloud‑based test environments.
  • Knowledge of requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, JIRA, or equivalent).
