Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee and manage all aspects of accounting operations for a small team. This is a hands-on Contract position based in Sterling, Virginia, where you will handle critical financial responsibilities such as payroll, journal entries, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and have a strong background in financial reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities:

- Supervise daily accounting operations and ensure accuracy across all financial processes.

- Prepare detailed financial statements and reports in compliance with relevant standards.

- Manage month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries and accrual adjustments.

- Oversee payroll processing and ensure timely and accurate payment to employees.

- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to maintain financial integrity.

- Coordinate and prepare for external audit.

- Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and organizational policies.

- Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, fostering a collaborative environment.

- Analyze financial data to support decision-making and business strategy.

Requirements

- Proven experience as a Controller.

- Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and reporting.

- Proficiency in performing month-end and year-end close processes.

- Expertise in journal entries and accrual accounting.

- Familiarity with balance sheet reconciliations and audit preparation.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to lead and mentor a small team effectively.
