Job DescriptionThe Engineer II is a mid‑level electrical engineering position responsible for providing technical design support and engineering expertise to ensure projects meet all applicable codes, specifications, and client requirements. This role plays a key part in designing constructible, state‑of‑the‑art electrical systems across commercial, high‑rise residential, and data center environments.
On a day‑to‑day basis, this engineer will prepare electrical designs, perform power system analysis, conduct coordination and arc flash studies, and collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, contractors, and internal design teams. The position supports both pre‑construction design development and construction‑phase coordination, ensuring accurate documentation and smooth field execution.
This role exists to support continued growth in large‑scale electrical infrastructure projects and offers the opportunity to lead limited‑scope projects while mentoring junior engineers and designers.
Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare and review power distribution, lighting, and auxiliary system designs.
- Develop single‑line diagrams including feeder sizing and overcurrent protection.
- Perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Conduct voltage drop and Neher‑McGrath underground heat effect calculations.
- Review equipment submittals and coordinate with the Engineer of Record.
- Generate electrical specifications appropriate to project scope.
- Coordinate design efforts with architectural, structural, mechanical, and plumbing teams.
- Participate in project design meetings and interface with clients and contractors.
- Visit job sites to survey existing electrical conditions.
- Support commissioning, system testing, and construction‑phase design representation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Sciences, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of electrical engineering experience in building systems design.
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, grounding, lighting, and energy efficiency requirements.
- Experience performing short circuit and overcurrent coordination studies.
- Working knowledge of arc flash mitigation analysis.
- Proficiency in Autodesk and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes (NEC).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in high‑rise residential, commercial, or data center projects.
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or pursuit of Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- Experience with electrical analysis software and illumination modeling tools.
- Prior experience in design‑build or mission‑critical environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Sciences, or related field required.
Pay & Benefits SummarySalary Range: $112,000 – $120,000 annually
