HIRING FOR 2026/2027 SCHOOL YEAR

RE-1 Valley School District is seeking an innovative and student-centered SMART Lab Teacher to lead hands-on, project-based learning experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).

Position Summary The SMART Lab Teacher creates a dynamic learning environment where students explore design thinking, coding, engineering, digital media, robotics, and collaborative problem-solving. The teacher fosters creativity, critical thinking, real-world application, and supports student growth in innovation and collaboration.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Smart Lab Sessions
    • Lead interactive and collaborative sessions within the Smart Lab, ensuring a stimulating learning environment for students.
    • Guide students through project-based learning activities that integrate STEM principles and real-world applications.
    • Foster a culture of curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking among students.
  • Technology Management
    • Oversee and maintain the Smart Lab's technological infrastructure, including computers, software, robotics kits, and other specialized equipment.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with IT support for timely resolution.
  • Student Support
    • Provide individualized support to students, addressing their questions, concerns, and challenges during Smart Lab sessions.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that caters to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to align Smart Lab initiatives with the overall educational goals of the school district.
    • Collaborate with external partners, such as industry professionals or local organizations, to enrich the Smart Lab experience.
  • Document Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of Smart Lab activities, student progress, and project outcomes.
    • Generate reports and communicate regularly with school leadership to provide updates on Smart Lab initiatives.
  • Professional Responsibilities

    • Support building and district improvement goals.
    • Follow district policies and procedures.
    • Adhere to standard practices and ethical conduct toward information and technology, students, colleagues, school officials, parents, and community members.
Equipment & Resource Management
  • Maintain lab equipment and technology.
  • Manage inventory and supplies.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of project-based learning and inquiry-based instruction.
  • Understanding of STEM/STEAM instructional practices.
  • Skill in facilitating student collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Ability to integrate technology effectively into instruction.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to foster creativity and innovation.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education, STEM-related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Appropriate Colorado Department of Education Licensure. Additional coursework required for eligibility toward a Colorado Teacher License or must be completed within an agreed-upon timeframe.
  • Currently holding a Colorado Substitute Teaching License if Teacher License is not completed.
  • Experience in facilitating STEM-based activities or project-based learning preferred.
  • Proficiency in managing educational technology and software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in adapting to changing educational landscapes and incorporating emerging technologies into the learning environment.
