Animal Science Professor - Livestock Judging Coach
Northeastern Junior College is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to serve as the Northeastern Junior College Animal Science Professor and Livestock Judging Coach. Teaching responsibilities will include Animal Science, Live Animal Evaluation, Livestock and Carcass Evaluation, and/or other livestock and agricultural courses. Considerable time and travel requirements can be expected in fulfilling the responsibilities of the livestock judging team coach.
In addition, the individual must be an effective recruiter and must be able to develop respect and rapport with livestock producers, potential students, and supporters of the program throughout the region.

What Your
Key Responsibilities Will Be:
Faculty:
Provide effective classroom instruction as measured by the student success and persistence rates. Faculty members must demonstrate ability to inspire students to learn. This, perhaps, is the instructor's most important responsibility.Develop curriculum such as demonstrations, tests, homework, and lab work for the respective agricultural area.Accept certain other duties as required by the state of Colorado and Northeastern Junior College. These include academic advising, committee work, and campus participation beyond the classroom (sponsoring activities/groups, student clubs, etc.).Serve as an academic advisor, including becoming familiar with the NJC academic advising philosophy, programs, graduation requirements, college services, processes, procedures, placement scores and other placement methods, transferability of courses, and career opportunities.Attend professional staff, department, and program meetings, and graduation.Facilitate regular communications with staff and students by reading all email messages, listening to telephone voice messages, and responding in a timely fashion.Utilize the college's Learning Management System (Desire-to-Learn - D2L aka Brightspace) for all courses and maintain student grades in the D2L gradebook. Grades must be posted to D2L in a timely manner in order to keep students informed of their progress and grade status throughout the course. Instructors must record student information and grades in a confidential way so as to protect the student's identity.Report no-show attendance, mid-term grades, and final grades according to announced deadlines. Additionally, file course syllabi with the administrative assistant within the first two weeks of class.Colorado employees are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. In addition to their normal duties, faculty members are required to be available to students a minimum of six (6) hours per week in set office hours.Livestock Judging:
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students, potential students, visitors, members of the community, and team members during class, lab, travel, practice, competition or any other related activities under the direct supervision of the position and during the entire duration of such activity.Plan and execute team and individual travel following the procedures and policies of the state system and Northeastern Junior College.Manage all activities associated with entries for practice and national competitions.Complete all requirements and follow all rules and procedures associated with academic eligibility reporting, monitoring, and submitting in accordance with the policies of the National Junior College Livestock Judging Coaches Association or other sanctioning organization.Oversee all recruiting activities associated with the Livestock Judging Program including the management of student scholarships and conducting recruiting visits. Coordinate with the NJC Marketing Director in support of the Livestock Judging Team.Host FFA, 4H judging contests, Plainsmen Preview jackpot show, and events as directed.Manage all aspects of fundraising for the Judging program.What You Will Need:
