RE-1 Valley School District is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Kindergarten–2nd grade Music Teacher who is passionate about building foundational music skills while fostering joy, creativity, and confidence in young learners.
We are looking for an educator who understands early childhood development and can create engaging, age-appropriate music experiences that support rhythm, movement, singing, and basic music literacy.
SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $44,000 - $65,853 on Teacher Salary Schedule

Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)
Position SummaryThe K–2 Music Teacher provides engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction that supports students' artistic expression, foundational music skills, and overall cognitive and social development. The teacher fosters creativity, collaboration, and performance readiness in a safe and supportive learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plan and deliver standards-based music instruction aligned to Colorado Academic Standards for Music
- Teach foundational skills including rhythm, steady beat, pitch matching, tempo, dynamics, and basic notation
- Incorporate singing, movement, instruments, listening activities, and creative expression
- Use age-appropriate instructional strategies tailored to early learners
- Integrate cross‑curricular connections where appropriate
- Establish a positive and structured classroom environment
- Teach and reinforce classroom procedures for instrument care and safe participation
- Promote collaboration and confidence in performance
- Assess student progress in foundational music skills
- Provide feedback to students and communicate progress with families
- Adjust instruction based on student developmental levels
- Coordinate and prepare students for grade‑level performances (if applicable)
- Support school events and programs involving music
- Maintain music equipment and inventory
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff
- Participate in professional learning communities and professional development

- Bachelor's Degree in Music Education preferred and will be given first consideration
- Currently hold a Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement or have licensure application in process (additional coursework required for eligibility toward a Colorado Teacher License is required or must be completed within an agreed‑upon timeframe)
- Currently hold a Colorado Substitute Teaching License if Teacher License is not completed
- Experience in primary grades preferred
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate music instruction
- Experience organizing elementary performances
- Ability to integrate movement and cross‑curricular connections
- Knowledge of early childhood development and primary‑grade learners
- Understanding of foundational music concepts such as rhythm, pitch, tempo, and dynamics
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging, age‑appropriate music lessons
