RE-1 Valley School District is seeking a passionate and student-centered Elementary Teacher (Grades K–2) to join our team. We are looking for an educator who believes in building strong foundational skills, fostering a positive classroom culture, and partnering with families to support student success.
SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $44,000 - $65,853 on Teacher Salary Schedule
FLSA STATUS:
Exempt
WORK CALENDAR: 167 days
FTE: 1.0
Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)
Position Summary
The Elementary Teacher (K–2) is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that promotes academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and foundational skill development. The teacher will create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports the whole child.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned to Colorado Academic Standards
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Implement evidence-based early literacy and numeracy practices
- Utilize formative and summative assessments to guide instruction
- Integrate technology appropriately to enhance learning
- Establish a positive, structured classroom environment
- Promote social-emotional learning and positive behavior supports
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, interventionists, and support staff
- Participate in MTSS, IEP, and 504 meetings as appropriate
- Engage in professional learning communities (PLCs)

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education preferred and will be given first consideration
- Valid Colorado Teaching License with appropriate endorsement, or ability to obtain (additional coursework required for eligibility toward a Colorado Teacher License is required or must be completed within an agreed-upon timeframe)
- Currently hold a Colorado Substitute Teaching License if Teacher License is not completed
- Knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards
- Experience teaching primary grades
- Training in structured literacy, MTSS, or early childhood development
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of early childhood development
- Knowledge of phonics, phonemic awareness, and foundational math instruction
- Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Frequent walking, bending, and classroom movement
- Occasional evening events (parent conferences, school activities)
