HIRING FOR 2026/2027 SCHOOL YEAR
Re-1 Valley School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our secondary team. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about literature, writing, critical thinking, and preparing students for college, career, and civic life.

SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $44,000 - $65,853 on Teacher Salary Schedule
FLSA STATUS:
Exempt
WORK CALENDAR: 167 days
FTE: 1.0
Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)
Position Summary
To provide rigorous, standards-based instruction in English Language Arts that develops students' reading comprehension, writing proficiency, communication skills, and critical thinking abilities in preparation for post-secondary success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
* Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons
* Teach literature, composition, grammar, vocabulary, and research skills
* Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
* Incorporate informational texts and diverse literary voices
* Integrate technology and digital literacy into instruction
Assessment & Data
* Assess student progress through formative and summative measures
* Provide timely, meaningful feedback on writing and academic performance
* Use data to inform instructional decisions
* Prepare students for district and state assessments
Student Development
* Foster critical thinking, discussion, and analytical skills
* Promote academic integrity and responsible scholarship
* Create a safe and respectful classroom culture
Collaboration & Communication
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
* Participate in professional learning communities
* Collaborate on curriculum alignment and vertical articulation
* Support school-wide initiatives and activities
Professional Responsibilities
* Maintain current licensure
* Participate in professional development
* Support district and building improvement initiatives

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Strong knowledge of secondary ELA content and pedagogy
* Ability to teach writing across genres (argumentative, narrative, informational)
* Effective classroom management skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to equitable instructional practices
Working Conditions
* Classroom setting
* Occasional evening events (parent conferences, school activities)
Education & Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in English, Secondary Education, or related field preferred and will be given first consideration
* Currently hold a Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement or have licensure application in process (Additional coursework required for eligibility toward a Colorado Teacher License is required or must be completed within an agreed-upon timeframe)
* Currently hold a Colorado Substitute Teaching License if Teacher License is not completed
* Experience teaching high school students preferred
* Strong classroom management and instructional skills
* Bilingual skills preferred
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policy and the Colorado Teacher Evaluation System.
