HIRING FOR 2026/2027 SCHOOL YEAR

RE-1 Valley School District is seeking an innovative and student-centered SMART Lab Teacher to lead hands‑on, project-based learning experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).

The SMART Lab Teacher will create a dynamic learning environment where students explore design thinking, coding, engineering, digital media, robotics, and collaborative problem‑solving.

We are looking for an educator who fosters creativity, critical thinking, and real‑world application of skills while supporting student growth in innovation and collaboration.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $44,000 - $65,853 on Teacher Salary Schedule

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

WORK CALENDAR: 167 days

FTE: 1.0

Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)

Position Summary

The Smart Lab Facilitator plays a crucial role in promoting innovative and hands‑on learning experiences for students. This position is responsible for managing and facilitating activities within the Smart Lab, an interactive learning environment equipped with cutting‑edge technology and resources. The Smart Lab Facilitator collaborates with students, teachers, and administrators to integrate STEM concepts into engaging projects, fostering a dynamic and inquiry‑driven learning atmosphere.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Smart Lab Sessions
    • Lead interactive and collaborative sessions within the Smart Lab.
    • Guide students through project‑based learning activities that integrate STEM principles and real‑world applications.
    • Foster a culture of curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking among students.
  • Technology Management
    • Oversee and maintain the Smart Lab’s technological infrastructure, including computers, software, robotics kits, and other specialized equipment.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with IT support for timely resolution.
  • Student Support
    • Provide individualized support to students, addressing their questions, concerns, and challenges during Smart Lab sessions.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that caters to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to align Smart Lab initiatives with the overall educational goals of the school district.
    • Collaborate with external partners, such as industry professionals or local organizations, to enrich the Smart Lab experience.
  • Document Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of Smart Lab activities, student progress, and project outcomes.
    • Generate reports and communicate regularly with school leadership to provide updates on Smart Lab initiatives.
  • Professional Responsibilities
    • Maintain current licensure.
    • Participate in professional development.
    • Support building and district improvement goals.
    • Follow district policies and procedures.
    • Comply with standard practices and ethical conduct toward information technology, students, colleagues, school officials, parents, and community members.
Equipment & Resource Management
  • Maintain lab equipment and technology.
  • Manage inventory and supplies.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of project‑based learning and inquiry‑based instruction.
  • Understanding of STEM/STEAM instructional practices.
  • Skill in facilitating student collaboration and problem‑solving.
  • Ability to integrate technology effectively into instruction.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to foster creativity and innovation.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, STEM‑related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Appropriate Colorado Department of Education licensure.
  • Additional coursework required for eligibility toward a Colorado Teacher License if not already completed.
  • Currently hold a Colorado Substitute Teaching License if Teacher License is not completed.
  • Experience in facilitating STEM‑based activities or project‑based learning preferred.
  • Proficiency in managing educational technology and software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
