HIRING FOR 2026/2027 SCHOOL YEAR

RE-1 Valley School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Middle School Math Teacher to inspire and challenge students in grades 6-8.

We are looking for an educator who builds strong mathematical foundations, promotes critical thinking, and prepares students for high school-level mathematics. The ideal candidate creates an engaging classroom environment that fosters problem-solving, perseverance, and student confidence.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $44,000 - $65,853 on Teacher Salary Schedule

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

WORK CALENDAR: 167 days

FTE: 1.0

Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)

Position Summary

The Middle School Math Teacher provides high-quality instruction aligned to Colorado Academic Standards. The teacher fosters mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and academic growth while preparing students for high school mathematics and postsecondary readiness.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum
  • Plan and deliver standards-based math instruction
  • Teach mathematical concepts including ratios, expressions, equations, geometry, statistics, and pre-algebra concepts
  • Promote conceptual understanding and mathematical discourse
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs
  • Integrate technology and manipulatives to support learning
Assessment & Data
  • Develop and administer formative and summative assessments
  • Analyze student performance data to guide instruction
  • Implement targeted interventions for students requiring additional support
  • Maintain accurate records of grades and progress
Classroom Environment
  • Establish a safe, structured, and academically focused classroom
  • Promote perseverance and growth mindset in mathematics
  • Maintain clear expectations and routines
Collaboration & Communication
  • Collaborate with grade-level and department teams
  • Participate in MTSS, IEP, and 504 meetings as appropriate
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain current licensure
  • Participate in professional development
  • Support district and building improvement initiatives
  • Follow district policies and procedures

In conscientiously conducting his or her affairs, the employee shall exemplify the highest standards of professional commitment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or related field preferred and will be given first consideration
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License with appropriate endorsement, or ability to obtain (additional coursework required for eligibility toward a Colorado Teacher License is required or must be completed within an agreed-upon timeframe)
  • Currently hold a Colorado Substitute Teaching License if Teacher License is not completed
  • Knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards for Mathematics
  • Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills required
  • Experience teaching middle school math preferred
  • Experience with data-driven instruction and MTSS preferred
  • Ability to teach advanced or Algebra-level coursework preferred
  • Experience integrating technology into math instruction preferred
  • Bilingual Skills preferred
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of middle school math content and standards
  • Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and effectively
  • Skill in differentiating instruction for varying skill levels
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
