Re-1 Valley School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our secondary team. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about literature, writing, critical thinking, and preparing students for college, career, and civic life.

SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $44,000 - $65,853 on Teacher Salary Schedule
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
WORK CALENDAR: 167 days
FTE: 1.0
Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)
Position SummaryThe Middle School English Language Arts Teacher provides high-quality instruction aligned to Colorado Academic Standards. The teacher develops students' skills in reading comprehension, analytical writing, research, speaking, and critical thinking while preparing them for academic and social-emotional success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in reading, writing, grammar, and language
- Teach literary analysis, informational text comprehension, and argumentative writing
- Incorporate academic vocabulary development and structured writing instruction
- Facilitate classroom discussions that promote critical thinking and respectful discourse
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments
- Analyze student performance data to guide instruction
- Provide timely and meaningful feedback on student writing
- Implement interventions for students requiring additional literacy support
- Establish a safe, structured, and academically focused classroom
- Promote student voice and engagement
- Maintain clear expectations and routines
- Collaborate with grade-level and department teams
- Participate in MTSS, IEP, and 504 meetings as needed
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
- Maintain current licensure
- Participate in professional development
- Support building and district improvement goals
- Follow district policies and procedures

- Strong knowledge of middle school ELA content and standards
- Ability to teach reading comprehension and writing strategies effectively
- Skill in differentiating instruction for diverse learners
- Strong classroom management skills
- Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Secondary Education, or related field preferred and will be given first consideration
- Currently hold a Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement or have licensure application in process (Additional coursework required for eligibility toward a Colorado Teacher License is required or must be completed within an agreed-upon timeframe)
- Currently hold a Colorado Substitute Teaching License if Teacher License is not completed
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills required
- Experience teaching middle school ELA preferred
- Experience with structured writing instruction preferred
- Knowledge of literacy intervention strategies preferred
- Experience using data to guide instruction preferred
- Bilingual skills preferred
- Classroom setting
- Occasional evening events (parent conferences, school activities)
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policy and the Colorado Teacher Evaluation System.
