Position Overview

RE-1 Valley School District is seeking an innovative and student-centered Middle School Technology Teacher to support students in grades 6-8 in developing digital literacy, problem-solving, and technology skills essential for college and career readiness. We are looking for an educator who fosters creativity, collaboration, and responsible technology use while preparing students with foundational skills in digital tools, coding, and applied technology.

Reports To: Building Principal

Salary Range & Category: $44,000 – $65,853 on Teacher Salary Schedule

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Calendar: 167 days (4‑day school week, Tuesday–Friday)

FTE: 1.0

Full‑time with benefits.

Position Summary

The Middle School Technology Teacher provides engaging, standards‑based instruction in digital literacy, computer science fundamentals, and applied technology. The teacher supports students in developing critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and responsible digital citizenship skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum
  • Plan and deliver instruction aligned to Colorado Academic Standards and district technology goals
  • Teach foundational skills in digital literacy, keyboarding, computer applications, coding, and emerging technologies
  • Incorporate project-based learning and problem‑solving activities
  • Promote digital citizenship, online safety, and responsible technology use
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs
Classroom & Lab Management
  • Establish and maintain a safe, structured technology classroom
  • Monitor appropriate student use of devices and internet resources
  • Maintain and organize classroom technology and equipment
Assessment & Data
  • Assess student proficiency in technology skills
  • Use formative and summative data to guide instruction
  • Provide timely feedback on student projects and assignments
Collaboration
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology into core instruction
  • Support school wide technology initiatives
  • Participate in professional learning communities
Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain current licensure
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to technology
  • Follow district policies regarding technology and acceptable use
  • Support district and building improvement goals
  • RE-1 Valley employees shall comply with standard practices and ethical conduct toward information and information technology, students, professional colleagues, school officials, parents, and members of the community. In conscientiously conducting his or her affairs, the employee shall exemplify the highest standards of professional commitment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred and will be given first consideration
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License with appropriate endorsement, or ability to obtain (additional coursework required for eligibility toward a Colorado Teacher License is required or must be completed within an agreed‑upon timeframe)
  • Currently hold a Colorado Substitute Teaching License if Teacher License is not completed
  • Experience integrating technology into instruction preferred
  • Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills required
  • Experience teaching coding, robotics, or computer applications preferred
  • Knowledge of project-based learning (PBL) preferred
  • Experience with learning management systems and digital platforms preferred
  • Industry or technology-related background preferred
  • Bilingual skills preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of digital literacy and computer science fundamentals
  • Understanding of adolescent development
  • Ability to teach coding and technology concepts at the middle school level
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
