Re-1 Valley School District is seeking a passionate and student-centered Kindergarten6th grade Music Teacher who inspires creativity, builds confidence, and fosters a lifelong love of music in elementary students. We are looking for an educator who believes music is essential to a well-rounded education and can create an engaging, inclusive classroom environment.

This position includes general music instruction for Kindergarten through 6th grade students and coordination of elementary performances and music programs.

SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $44,000 - $65,853 on Teacher Salary Schedule

FLSA STATUS:
Exempt

WORK CALENDAR: 167 days

FTE: 1.0

Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)

Position Summary

To provide high-quality music instruction that develops students' musical skills, creativity, appreciation of music, and performance abilities while supporting overall student growth and school culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

* Plan and deliver standards-based music instruction aligned to Colorado Academic Standards for Music

* Teach foundational skills including rhythm, steady beat, pitch matching, tempo, dynamics, and basic notation

* Incorporate singing, movement, instruments, listening activities, and creative expression

* Use age-appropriate instructional strategies tailored to all learners

* Integrate cross-curricular connections where appropriate

Classroom Environment

* Establish a positive and structured classroom environment

* Teach and reinforce classroom procedures for instrument care and safe participation

* Promote collaboration and confidence in performance

Assessment & Growth

* Assess student progress in foundational music skills

* Provide feedback to students and communicate progress with families

* Adjust instruction based on student developmental levels

Performances & School Involvement

* Coordinate and prepare students for grade-level performances (if applicable)

* Support school events and programs involving music

* Maintain music equipment and inventory

Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

* Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff

* Participate in professional learning communities and professional development

* Maintain current licensure

* Follow district policies and procedures

* Maintain current licensure

* Participate in professional development

* Support district and building improvement initiatives

Education & Experience

* Bachelor's Degree in Music Education preferred and will be given first consideration
