Job Title: Engineering Staff – Supplier Quality Assurance
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Employment Type: Contract |
Hours: 40 hrs./week, Mon–Fri (9/80 schedule – every other Friday off)
You will play a key role in ensuring supplier quality and compliance for advanced defense manufacturing programs. Working closely with engineering, supply chain, and supplier partners, you will help ensure that components meet stringent technical, regulatory, and quality requirements that directly impact product performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate supplier Quality Management Systems (QMS) and overall performance.
- Provide Quality Assurance oversight for supplier and subcontractor products and hardware.
- Review and process Material Requests (MRs), purchase orders, and statements of work to ensure proper quality provisions are applied.
- Perform on-site source inspections, including First Piece Inspections (FPI), acceptance testing, and product verification at supplier facilities.
- Review and approve supplier documentation, including FPI reports, Acceptance Test Plans (ATP), and Acceptance Test Reports (ATR).
- Support and conduct supplier audits, including ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D evaluations.
- Maintain and manage the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities and disposition of nonconforming products.
- Prepare and present monthly quality metrics, reports, and performance data.
- Support additional quality assurance activities as needed.
- 7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality, or Manufacturing Quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical data packages.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and/or AS9100D quality standards.
- Experience with fabricated and machined hardware, including welding and industry standards (MIL, SAE, DIN, ANSI, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional and supplier-facing teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Ability to travel up to 25% (CONUS and OCONUS).
- Experience with Oracle Applications, Teamcenter, or TIPQA.
- Background supporting defense, aerospace, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Prior experience conducting supplier audits and source inspections.
