Job Description:
  • Must be Board Certified by American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA)
  • Administers intravenous, inhalation, and regional anesthetics to render persons insensible to pain during surgical procedures, obstetrical deliveries, or other medical and dental procedures. Potentially administers anesthesia to all ages and A.S.A. classes of patients, including geriatrics and pediatrics. Provides airway management services as needed throughout the hospital.

    ASAP - Credentialing requires up to 90 days before candidate can start.
  • Completion of an Accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program is required.

  • Outpatient position
  • Mix of 8-10-12- hour day shifts with opportunity to transition to longer shifts if desired.
  • On call: must be willing to work four days per month or more.

  • Interacts with members of the health care team to plan and coordinate the perioperative care. Ability to work harmoniously in collaborative situations with Anesthesiologists and other health care providers.
  • Promotes a healthy work environment through promotion of professional communication standards, commitment to co-workers, and positive problem resolution.
  • Conducts appropriate pre-anesthetic assessments, and document findings.
  • In collaboration with the Anesthesiologist, determines the appropriate anesthetic plan of management, manages all aspects of anesthesia care to include preoperative, perioperative, and immediate postoperative care.
  • Maintains complete and accurate documentation of care for all procedures.
  • Provides airway management and/or intubations for emergent, non-emergent, and resuscitation situations throughout the hospital.
  • Anticipates and exceeds patients and customers' expectations that meet all elements of the Henry Ford Experience.
  • Identifies services and care improvement ideas and act on them to create excellent customer experiences.
  • Demonstrates, supports, and assumes personal accountability for consistently upholding team members to the standards across the System and adhering to Henry Ford Health policies and procedures.
  • Recognizes the unique contribution all health care team members contribute to the patient experience.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Independently uses and documents the nursing process to plan, deliver, and evaluate goal focused, individualized, safe, age specific care for all patients including those with complex pathophysiological needs and/or psychosocial needs.
  • Seeks to understand and incorporate both safe practices and evidence-based practices into daily nursing care.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory standards regarding practice, environment, and documentation.
  • Directs and delegates nursing care based on patient acuity and staff competency that is consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimum patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement/ patient safety initiatives and programs.
  • Participates in professional development and continuous learning.
