Overview

Production Supervisor (2nd Shift) - Sterling Heights, Michigan

Direct position - pay rate up to $85k (based on proven work history).

Second Shift Position: 2:00pm - 10:00pm Monday - Friday

Responsibilities
  • The job scope is to be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the plant floor in his/her assigned work area. The supervisor is obligated to ensure a safe working environment for the staff as well as lead the manufacturing team to produce high quality products at the lowest possible cost.
  • The supervisor must support the operational business plan.
  • Accomplish production goals by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Coach, counsel, and discipline employees. Initiating, coordinating, and enforcing company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all equipment, resources, PPE, managing the safety and production training of all associates
  • Continuously monitor safety issues and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain staff by working with Human Resources to interview, orientate, and train employees. Developing personal growth opportunities of new employees
  • Maintain production by monitoring personnel and resources, implementing cost reductions, and implementing corrections to break downs within the process
  • Creating and fostering a spirit of cooperation between shifts and departments
  • Meet production needs by scheduling and assigned personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results in end of shift reports
  • Maintain quality by establishing and enforcing company quality standards by monitoring, reviewing, and dispositioning of daily scrap. Maintaining and monitoring the material review area daily
  • Ensure operation of equipment by contacting maintenance when needed. Monitoring status of down equipment
  • Resolve personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending actions
  • Walk floor with other supervisors to review and communicate any issues
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
  • Coordinates with Engineering and monitors tooling tests
  • Works with Supplier, and/or other individual vendors to communicate our current needs and the prioritization of the tooling needs
  • Understands and initiates lean manufacturing techniques
  • Knowledge of Kan Ban/Pull systems
  • Maintains attendance program and timekeeping through ERP system (PLEX)
  • Work with Plant Manager and Materials Manager to schedule and monitor all phases of the production process
  • Maintain all production areas and monitor equipment by utilizing the 5S philosophy. Provide direction to employees involved in 5S activities
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and build a team
  • Consistently ensure the integrity of all corporate processes and procedures
  • Complete all incident reports, audits, and reports as required
  • Effectively manage schedules and Client to successfully achieve production requirements
  • Combine management and leadership skills to enhance employee's performance, productivity, and quality
  • Use solid decision-making skills for discipline and other issues as they arise
  • Demonstrate Problem-Solving skills
  • Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • Microsoft Office:
    Excel, PowerPoint, Word. PLEX working knowledge, knowledge of machining processes. Knowledge of operation and forklift driving
  • Five years of manufacturing experience and two years in a supervisory role. Ability to lead in a diverse work environment. Ability to communicate both written and verbally. Possess an understanding of plant safety and quality controls
  • Minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent in business, operational development, or a related field of equivalent experience
  • Basic walking and sitting along with using traditional office equipment. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
