GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE JOB
This position is for a mechanically inclined individual who possesses a positive attitude and desire to continuously improve. This person will be a key player in ensuring first time quality and delivery change over components to the headers. The Tooling Tech will work toward ensuring on-time delivery and first time quality of changeover components to the headers during changeovers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that tool packs are assembled and built correctly by Tool/Pack room.
- Manage the machine calibration program and problem solves to improve machine consistency.
- Review and update header set up sheets (RC Pro).
- Assist with engineering change requests.
- Work closely with Tool/Pack rooms, Shop Floor, and Engineering to drive continuous improvements reducing machine setup and downtime related to tooling issues.
- Conduct meetings with the team to ensure ideas are brought forth and all solutions are explored.
- Provide assistance to machine operators on new job development.
- Engage in problem solving teams; help areas perform root cause analysis.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent. Associates or higher preferred.
- Basic Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
- Solid math skills through at least Algebra.
- Good communication (writing, speaking, working with people, etc.) and teamwork skills.
- Mechanically inclined, shop classes or manufacturing process training is desirable.
- Basic problem solving skills. Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.
- Willingness to learn new areas of the business.
- Desire to learn and experiment with lean manufacturing techniques.

Environmental Conditions
* Factory conditions vary but machines give off heat, smoke/mist, and some locations have heat treat furnaces that may increase the temperature inside of buildings.
* All equipment has moving mechanical parts.
* Machine operators must work with oils and other chemicals in the manufacturing of parts and in cleaning of work areas.
* Because wiring is present, there is some minor risk of electrical shock while operating equipment.
* When in operation, machines will vibrate, as will the feeding systems of some equipment.
* Hearing protection is required PPE due to consistent decibel levels present when equipment is operating.
