Tracked Engineering Project Manager

Sterling Heights, MI

66 – 73/hour

Position Overview

Seeking an Engineering Project Manager to support tracked vehicle programs within a legacy product management environment. This role leads cross‑functional engineering teams supporting production, modernization, and obsolescence management for domestic and international defense programs.

The position is responsible for delivering projects within schedule, budget, and technical constraints while supporting vehicle system design, integration, build, and testing activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross‑functional engineering teams supporting tracked vehicle programs
  • Develop and execute project plans, integrated schedules, and program metrics
  • Apply Earned Value Management System (EVMS) principles
  • Manage engineering scope, budgets, forecasting, and funding mechanisms
  • Support vehicle system design, integration, build, and test activities
  • Serve as technical interface with customers and leadership
  • Support proposal efforts, bids, and RFI responses
  • Manage problem reports, design changes, and resolution tracking
  • Monitor project performance metrics and schedule adherence
  • Recommend process improvements to improve engineering throughput
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering/project experience
  • Experience leading complex technical or engineering projects
  • Experience managing multi‑functional engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years in defense or engineering industry programs
  • Advanced degree (MBA or MS) a plus
  • Experience with EVMS, project scheduling tools, and critical path analysis
  • Experience managing technical customer relationships
