Cybersecurity, Systems Engineer
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Pay Rate: $72-$82/hour
Position OverviewThis position supports the Cyber and C5
ISR engineering organization with responsibility for platform-level cyber architecture, evaluation, compliance, and integration across ground combat vehicle systems. This is an engineering leadership role responsible for executing guidance from platform leadership while ensuring integrated, compliant, and balanced cybersecurity design across vehicle platforms.
- Lead integration of Cyber scope across cross-functional engineering teams within schedule and program constraints
- Ensure balanced and compliant cyber design across vehicle systems
- Develop and implement cyber-physical design best practices, tools, and training initiatives
- Foster a cybersecurity culture across the engineering enterprise
- Develop and manage system requirements and interface allocations including:
- Performance
- Space, Weight, Power, Cooling, Reliability, and Maintainability (SWaP-CRaM)
- Manage system specifications and compliance documentation
- Coordinate requirements, architectures, system designs, and trade studies
- Conduct structured trade studies balancing cost, reliability, performance, and platform constraints
- Oversee verification planning and execution including production and field validation
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities
- Develop and review technical artifacts and CDRLs for compliance
- Coordinate with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) for interface and threat analysis alignment
- Evaluate emerging Cyber and C5
ISR technologies for platform integration - Lead and participate in peer reviews
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field (cyber certifications considered)
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Experience supporting engineering and/or military projects
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML
- Experience with embedded system cybersecurity
- Experience with Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA)
- Experience conducting Cyber Tabletop Exercises (CTTX)
- Knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards:
- NIST SP 800-37
- NIST SP 800-53
- Experience preparing and maintaining:
- System Security Plans (SSPs)
- Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms)
- Experience leading technical development teams
- Experience in military vehicle development and integration
- Experience developing and managing system-level cyber requirements
- Familiarity with electronic hardware and line replaceable units (LRUs)
- Experience with cyber warfare (offensive and/or defensive)
- Experience with embedded systems in automotive or military environments
- Working knowledge of cyber-physical system security requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to travel up to 15% (primarily domestic)
- Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
- Must meet Anthropometric Size Requirements (ASR) for confined military vehicle spaces
- Ability to climb on/off and work in/around military vehicles
