About the Role
Our client is seeking a mid-career EMI/EMC Systems Test Engineer to support qualification testing for advanced military vehicle programs. In this role, you will plan, execute, and document EMI/EMC tests in compliance with MIL-STD standards, troubleshoot failures, and lead design improvements to ensure mission success. You will collaborate across engineering teams to deliver high-quality results that support the company’s defense programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct EMI/EMC qualification testing in accordance with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, or commercial (CISPR) standards
• Develop technical documents including test plans, reports, CDRLs, and presentations
• Support EMI/EMC testing activities on and around military vehicles, including setup, cabling, and harnessing
• Troubleshoot test failures and propose design improvements to mitigate issues
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project schedules and budgets
• Travel occasionally to test sites/labs and attend technical meetings
• Perform hands-on tasks such as climbing on/off vehicles, handling test equipment, and ensuring high-quality electrical connections
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 5 years of qualification testing experience (military EMI/EMC experience preferred)
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464 (CISPR experience considered)
• Strong technical writing skills for plans, reports, and customer deliverables
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
• Ability to work in and around military vehicles, pass ASR test, and perform cable routing/connection tasks
• Self-starter with problem-solving skills and motivation to develop EMI/EMC expertise
• U.S. citizenship required; must be eligible for a U.S. security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
• Active U.S. Security Clearance
• Experience working with ground combat vehicles
• iNARTE Electromagnetic Compatibility certification
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC design principles, standards, and analysis methods
• Familiarity with CAD tools (Teamcenter, NX, CREO, CATIA)
• Experience with electrical diagrams (1-wire, 2-wire, assembly drawings)
• Familiarity with MBSE and Cameo modeling tools
• Understanding of TEMPEST requirements and RED/BLACK separation
• Knowledge of electromagnetic simulation software
• Awareness of electronic degradation due to gamma and neutron radiation
