Platform Cybersecurity Engineer
Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Pay Rate: $62–$70/hour
This role supports the Cyber and C5
ISR engineering organization with responsibility for platform-level cyber architecture, evaluation, testing, and compliance across ground combat vehicle systems.
The engineer will execute platform guidance while ensuring integrated, compliant, and balanced cybersecurity design across vehicle systems.
Key Responsibilities- Support integration of Cyber scope across cross-functional engineering teams within program schedule and constraints
- Ensure balanced, integrated, and compliant cyber design across vehicle systems
- Support development and implementation of cyber-physical design best practices, tools, and training
- Help foster a cybersecurity-focused engineering culture
- Develop and manage system requirements and interface allocations including:
- Performance
- Space, Weight, Power, Cooling, Reliability, and Maintainability (SWaP-CRaM)
- Develop system specification compliance documentation
- Coordinate requirements, architectures, and system designs, including trade studies and alternatives
- Conduct structured trade studies balancing cost, reliability, performance, and platform constraints
- Support development and execution of verification plans including production and field validation
- Participate in troubleshooting and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts
- Develop and review technical artifacts and CDRLs for compliance
- Coordinate with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) for threat analysis, interface development, and requirements decomposition
- Evaluate emerging Cyber and C5
ISR technologies for platform integration - Participate in peer reviews
(Candidates will be evaluated on the overall combination of qualifications.)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field (cyber certifications considered)
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Experience supporting engineering and/or military programs
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML
- Experience in embedded system cybersecurity
- Experience with Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA)
- Experience conducting Cyber Tabletop Exercises (CTTX)
- Knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards:
- NIST SP 800-37
- NIST SP 800-53
- Experience preparing and maintaining:
- System Security Plans (SSPs)
- Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms)
- Experience leading technical development efforts
- Experience in military vehicle development and integration
- Experience developing and managing system-level cyber requirements
- Familiarity with electronic hardware and line replaceable units (LRUs)
- Experience with cyber warfare (offensive and/or defensive)
- Experience with embedded systems in automotive or military environments
- Familiarity with cyber-physical system security requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to travel up to 15% (primarily domestic)
- Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance
- Must meet Anthropometric Size Requirements (ASR) for confined military vehicle spaces
- Ability to climb on/off and work in/around military vehicles
