Location: Sterling Heights – Onsite
Position Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $45.00 – $50.00 per hour (Based on experience)
Contract Professionals, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support military combat vehicle product and technology upgrades. This role is responsible for electrical system specification, wiring harness and cable assembly design, subsystem integration, validation, and full lifecycle documentation within a controlled defense environment.
Prior experience with military ground vehicle electrical systems is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Specify and design electrical components from system, subsystem, and configuration item requirements
- Design and release military vehicle wiring harnesses and cable assemblies
- Validate requirements through modeling, simulation, analysis, and/or test
- Prepare engineering documentation including specifications, ICDs, design documents, and technical/test reports
- Develop and complete technical data packages
- Prepare cost estimates and schedules for assigned electrical design efforts
- Generate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Engineering Change Notices, and Engineering Orders
- Coordinate with procurement and manufacturing to ensure component delivery and schedule adherence
- Guide designers and drafters in producing releasable documentation
- Provide recurring status reports to leadership, project engineers, and customers
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and four (4) years of relevant experience OR
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and one (1) year of relevant experience
- Military ground vehicle wiring harness and cabling design experience
- Experience with electrical/electronic systems on military ground vehicles
- Knowledge of 28
VDC power distribution systems - Experience with Solid State Power Controllers (SSPC) or Programmable Power Controllers
- Vehicle signal management experience (sensor/transducer input/output)
- Working knowledge of military electrical connectors and cabling specifications
- Experience with SAE J1939 CANBus, MIL-STD-1553, and Ethernet (10/100/Gigabit) protocols
- Experience integrating military communication and antenna systems including BFT, SINCGARS, DAGR, and CREW2
- Proficiency with Visio Technical, Creo, or equivalent tools
- Prior experience supporting armored or tactical combat vehicle platforms
- Experience in configuration-controlled defense programs
- Experience coordinating across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
