Overview
Job Title: Process Engineer
Location: Sterling Heights
Job Type: Onsite
Expected hours per week (must include “per week”): 40 hours per week
Schedule (include days, hours, onsite/hybrid or remote): Monday – Friday, 8-5, Onsite
Pay Range (must include “per hour”): $42.30 per hour
Job DescriptionThis position is for a Process Engineer. You will collaborate with the headquarters launch team and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of manufacturing lines, meeting all key business metrics for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities- Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activities for gear machining
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity
- Complete all PPAP quality launch documentation
- Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to improve processes and products
- Develop action plans to investigate and resolve open issues; verify corrective actions
- Lead and conduct process audits to ensure compliance with Powertrain guidelines
- Conduct ergonomic evaluations and implement corrective actions
- Create process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods
- Deliver capable processes and tools for all gear machining operations
- Lead variability reduction and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
- Ensure compliance with Plant, Corporate, Governmental, and Environmental standards
- Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal auditing
- Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements to achieve production targets
Skills & Qualifications
- Education:
High School Diploma / GED - Experience: 5+ years in related manufacturing engineering roles
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, and Process Improvement
Skills & Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering - Hypoid Bevel process knowledge (blanking, milling, grinding, heat treat, shot peening)
- Familiarity with Quality Assessment tools (QDAS, Minitab)
- Experience with Klingelnberg P40 & Gleason Nano Gear CMM
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
- Problem-solving skills using 8D, 5
Why, and DMAIC/DMADV methodologies - Knowledge of FMEA, PPAP, and DOE processes
- Proficiency in Lean tools: 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, Value Stream Mapping
- Work Arrangement:
