Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in Sterling Heights, MI. The ideal candidate will oversee the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and products, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, proven mechanical design expertise, and experience managing cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical engineers, ensuring high performance and professional growth.

  • Project Management: Oversee mechanical engineering projects from concept through production, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.

  • Mechanical Design: Direct and review mechanical system and product designs, including component selection, materials, tolerances, and assembly methods.
  • Design Validation: Conduct design reviews, FEA analysis, and testing to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize engineering and design processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs and processes meet safety regulations, industry standards, and company quality requirements.

  • Innovation: Stay current with mechanical engineering trends, CAD software, and design best practices, applying innovative solutions to engineering challenges.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field;
    Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of mechanical engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or managerial role.

  • Design

    Skills:

    Strong background in mechanical design, CAD modeling (Solid Works, AutoCAD), GD&T, FEA, and prototype development.

  • Leadership

    Skills:

    Strong team leadership, project management, and decision‑making abilities.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally.

  • Certifications (Optional): Professional Engineer (PE) license, PMP, or Six Sigma certifications preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in automotive or manufacturing environments.

  • Proven track record of leading successful mechanical design and development projects.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and DFMEA/ PFMEA processes.
