WORK MONDAY–THURSDAY! NO NIGHTS, NO WEEKENDS, SEASON COMPLETED BY JULY 31!
The City of Sterling Heights is seeking Summer Playground workers to support Club SHPR (formerly Summer Playground program). There are three classifications:
Aide, Junior Leader, and Senior Leader. Summer Camp (Club SHPR) dates are June 15 – July 31; with required training scheduled throughout June. All positions will receive a wage increase on July 1, 2026.
- Supports Summer Playground program.
- Conducts activities as assigned by the Senior Leader.
- Hourly range: $13.50-$14.50

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older and have some experience working with children.
- Must pass background check and complete CPR, First Aid, and Concussion training. CPR & First Aid training dates will be made available through the Sterling Heights Fire Department upon employment.
- Hourly range: $16.00
- Assists the Senior Leader in conducting the various arts and crafts, games and activities.
- Supervision, leadership, following directions and assignments given by the Senior Leader.
- Assumes responsibility of the site in the absence of the Senior Leader.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a high school graduate and have some experience working with children.
- Must pass background check and complete CPR, First Aid, and Concussion training. CPR & First Aid training dates will be made available through the Sterling Heights Fire Department upon employment.
- Hourly range: $19.00
- Organizes and operates one site with staff assistance.
- Supervision of other staff members.
- Monitors the safety of participants.
- Disciplinary management.
- Activity planning - some activities are pre-scheduled, but day-to-day activities will be up to the entire staff and their creativity.
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least a two-year college student (majoring in education or recreation preferred).
- Must have experience working with children.
- Must pass background check and complete CPR, First Aid, and Concussion training. CPR & First Aid training dates will be made available through the Sterling Heights Fire Department upon employment.
