- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff during examinations or treatments.
- Conduct laboratory tests, process X-ray images, and interpret basic veterinary terminology to support accurate diagnoses.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental cleanings or treatments.
- Handle animal husbandry tasks such as cleaning kennels, feeding animals, and maintaining cleanliness standards across the clinic.
- Assist with specialized procedures like animal catheterization, to enhance overall pet health and comfort.
- Perform venipuncture, place IV catheters, and administer IV/IM/SQ injections and fluids.
- Induce, monitor, and recover patients from anesthesia.
- Monitor vital signs (TPR, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, ECG, capnography).
- Provide peri-operative and post-operative nursing care.
- Assist with dental cleanings and take dental radiographs.
- Collect and process laboratory samples (CBC, chem panels, urinalysis, fecals, cytology).
- Perform radiographs and position animals safely.
- Assist with emergency and critical care (triage, CPR, oxygen therapy, shock protocols).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Proven kennel experience combined with animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, and equines.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices to support clinical needs effectively.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory work, X-ray processing, and aseptic techniques is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of pet care essentials such as animal restraint and fear free practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail during procedures like animal catheterization or laboratory testing.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with veterinarians and team members while providing compassionate client service.
