The BIPOC Residence Programming Assistant will focus on supporting BIPOC students and student‑staff through their experience in residence which includes but is not limited to: creating an engaging and inclusive space for BIPOC students and staff, developing a sense of community and inclusion between BIPOC students, student‑staff, and residence, providing social and educational learning activities for all students in residence with particular focus on anti‑racism and racially affirming supports.
Applicants must self‑identify as Indigenous, Black, or a member of a racialized community.
Role:- Support the creation of an inclusive community atmosphere within Residence that acknowledges/recognizes the intersectional identities of BIPOC students and student staff.
- Create intentional space for BIPOC students and Residence Life Staff (RLS) through various activities and events throughout the Residence community, including but not limited to Welcome Week and Frost Week.
- Support the development of equity, diversity, and inclusion within Residence.
- Maintain open communication and manage administrative duties.
- Act as a role model of respect for self, others, and the community.
- Actively participate in fostering a culture of inclusivity, accessibility, reconciliation, and decolonization.
- Be legally eligible for employment.
- Be currently enrolled as a Brock student returning to Brock as a student in the Fall.
- Have sound knowledge of Residence Community Standards, event Risk Management procedures and campus resources.
- Have experience with living in a post‑secondary residence and/or previous leadership experience (such as RLS and/or RAC members) will be given preference.
- This position is paid at a rate of $17.60/hr and will work up to 35 hours a week from May to the end of Welcome Week. Availability to execute events during Welcome Week 2026 is crucial to this role. Throughout the academic year will work on a part‑time basis [10‑20 hours per week] based on departmental needs.
- This position cannot be filled by a member of the 2026‑2027 Residence Life Staff due to the number of hours required by both positions during the months of August and September.
Develop, promote, and execute Residence programming for Welcome Week, Frost Week, and ongoing programming throughout the year for primarily BIPOC students and student‑staff.
- Work in collaboration with campus partners (e.g., Student Life & Success, Brock University Students’ Union, Human Rights & Equity, Student Wellness & Accessibility Centre, and other applicable Campus Partners) to create relevant and engaging programming for Residence students.
