Overview

Western State Hospital (WSH) is hiring part-time LPNs on 1st and 2nd shifts. Successful candidates must be available to work 4, 8, or 12-hour shifts on weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 a.m.–3:00 p.m., or 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. Part-time LPNs are required to work a minimum of 64 hours per month. They must also work 4 hours on either Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day, as well as 4 hours on another holiday (e.g., the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Day).

• Providing quality care as a part of an interdisciplinary team
• Provide work direction to PNA staff, under supervision of an RN
• Maintaining accountability in a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment
• Creating healthy interpersonal interactions on adult acute admissions unit, geriatric unit, and extended rehabilitation service unit
• Observing and reporting feedback regarding interventions, treatments, behaviors, physical and emotional wellbeing, and other situations
• Documenting and communicating
• Using specialized training for promoting mental wellness recovery
• Prioritizes time to meet patient’s needs and provides direct patient care duties as assigned and when finished with medication administration
• Implements all individual treatment plans as written
• Administer medications, perform treatments, and document patient education and response according to policy and procedure

• Knowledge of illness and treatment modalities to include medication administration
• Ability to implement nursing care plan and provide guidance to other staff
• Ability to delegate and supervise nursing staff. Effective communication (written, verbal and sign)
• Ability to participate in interdisciplinary team. Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
• Ability to work overtime due to staffing emergencies in a 24-hour 7 day per week psychiatric hospital which may require a 16-hour shift
• Complete all annual competency training to include TOVA III with physical restraints
• Complete and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers with the American Heart Association
• Demonstrates knowledge of recovery/trauma informed care

Paid Shift Differential
2nd shift weekdays $3.50/hr., and weekend/holidays $3.50/hr.
