Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a part time/wage PCT Transportation Operator for the Social Work Department who will transport and assist patients during visits to the clubhouse or trips into the community for discharge and discharge related activities; ensure that patients are securely and comfortably seated and safely fastened in the vehicle; provide assistance with boarding and deboarding as needed, ensure the patient’s comfort and safety at all times;

and monitor patients’ behavior during transport to ensure they are calm and secure.

The part time PCT Transportation Operator will respond appropriately to any behavioral changes, emergencies, or medical needs that arise during transportation; utilize de-escalation techniques as needed to ensure patient safety and prevent behavioral emergencies; maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations concerning patient information and transport details; maintain the assigned vehicle to ensure that it is kept clean, operational, and safe for patient transportation while using the vehicle;

and report any issues or concerns regarding the vehicle’s performance or condition to the fleet manager or designee.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license and clean driving record
