• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
• Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continually explores new theories and procedures.
• Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.

• Reports to the athletic director who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
• Supervises assistants and middle school coaches, coordinating with the athletic director and respective principals.
• Instructs athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training, while modeling socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, confidence, and pride of accomplishment.
• Maintains knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultations.
• Manages program success and handles public exposure responsibly.
• Manages staffing: establishes philosophy, schedules clinics, trains staff, delegates duties, evaluates performance.
• Administrative duties: schedules events, coordinates transportation, attends meetings, handles documentation for state, system, physical exams, consent, and eligibility.
• Student responsibilities: mentors athletes, monitors grades and conduct, provides safety guidance, initiates injury and medical procedures, handles discipline processes, assists with college selection.
• Finance and equipment: participates in budgeting, recommends equipment specifications, tracks equipment inventory, ensures proper storage and security.
• Public relations: organizes preseason meetings, promotes the sport, maintains media relations, and ensures compliance with release policies.
