Position Summary
The Assistant ReStore Manager supports store operations through effective leadership of staff and volunteers, strong merchandising and inventory practices, and exceptional customer service. This is a key-holding management role that works closely with the ReStore Manager to ensure financial success, safety, and smooth day-to-day operations.
Essential Functions
- Monitor and track daily sales against budget; review P&L and GL reports monthly with the ReStore Manager
- Perform managerial duties including opening/closing the store, cash handling, safe counts, transaction research, returns/exchanges, inventory counts, and shipment receiving/logging
- Maintain store operations, policies, and procedures in the absence of the ReStore Manager
- Assist with basic HR functions including interviewing, hiring, training, and employee counseling
- Lead, train, develop, and engage store staff and volunteers using a positive leadership approach
- Ensure safe, efficient handling of merchandise and donations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment for employees, volunteers, and customers
- Ensure compliance with all legal, safety, and organizational requirements
- Represent Habitat positively to donors, customers, volunteers, HIPs (Homeowners in Progress), and Community Service Workers
- Deliver and uphold exceptional customer service standards across the store team
- Ensure volunteers, donors, HIPs, and Community Service Workers have a meaningful and engaging experience
- Collaborate with Volunteer Services to recruit and retain long-term volunteers
- Partner with internal departments including HR, IT, Accounting, and Volunteer Services
- Accurately complete reports and end-of-day documentation
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance and adhere to assigned schedules
- Maintain professional, ReStore-appropriate appearance
- Adhere to Habitat’s Code of Conduct and all organizational policies
- Perform additional Habitat Charlotte Region duties as assigned
Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to move merchandise throughout the store
- Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, 70 lbs. with assistance
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, Saturdays, and holidays
- Ability to obtain Forklift Certification and operate a forklift on a regular basis
- Ability to climb steps to Forklift cab

- Demonstrate leadership to team members and volunteers

- Reports directly to the ReStore Manager
Estimated Time Commitment: 40 hours/week, Monday-Sunday rotating schedule. Shifts are scheduled based on the needs of the store, between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
