Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Additive Engineer designs for additive manufacturing and operation of metal 3D printers using Solid Works. Work with a cross functional team of engineering, sales and customer support developing and executing a business plan to achieve growth in the 3D printing market.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Be an active contributor within a team of engineers who perform the design, development, and testing of all facets of the additive processAssess AM part candidates for material and equipment selection, manufacturability, design optimization, and how all those relate to a parts business caseGenerate optimized designs and build files to produce high quality parts in minimum time with maximum consistencyWork with other engineers to help refine the design of existing parts and optimize new parts to leverage additive technologyWork with Materials Engineers to investigate properties, geometric accuracy, and surface finish to develop optimal print parameters, heat treatments, and design allowables for existing and new alloysAbility to handle multiple competing projects simultaneouslyAbility to analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and deal with ambiguity and frequent changes in priorities is requiredCreate reports and materials to support company projects and activitiesParticipate in continuous improvement projects and ISO 9001 type activitiesSupport customer sales development activities via technical exchanges and communicationsDesign and Detail molds, models and fixturesCommunicates with outside customersHousekeeping in the Additive RoomsSpecify additive materialsRead and understand blueprints and drawingsHas an intimate working knowledge of multiple powder bed additive manufacturing machinesUtilize six-sigma quality tools, when appropriate, to define, measure, analyze, improve and control processes and outcomes.Responsible to maintain & support processes, procedures & K.P.I.’s owned by your position.Review of all procedures related to your job per “HR LG 01 Training Matrix”Completion within time stated of all training required by Job Description in “HR LG 01 Training Matrix”Perform other duties as assigned.Regular and punctual attendance.Follow all Company policies and procedures.Note:

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS:
BS Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Material Science or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university is required.2-5+ years experience with additive machines (powder bed or binder jetting a plus), including parameter development and process controlExperience with additive simulation softwareExperience with topology optimization software2+ years of experience in Siemens NX, or similar 3D CAD software is requiredHands-on experience with various additive and subtractive manufacturing and joining techniques for metals and polymersExperience with composites, high volume manufacturing processes, material science, and/or biomimicry desirableAble to work well in an integrated collaborative team environmentHighly self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentSuperior organizational skills, analytical skills as well as time management and prioritization abilitiesHigh level of confidentiality requiredExcellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with different levels of management and teamsPassionate about rapid prototyping and 3D PrintingMeticulous attention to detailIndependent and demonstrated an ability to deliver successful designs under tight timing constraintsBasic computer skills including Microsoft Word,…
