Grounds Operations
Job Summary
Maintain, care, and modify University grounds and landscape. Operate electrically/gasoline-powered equipment and machines. Use small hand and power tools in planting, cultivating, trimming grounds and landscaping.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine landscaping tasks within assigned areas (i.e., weeding, pruning, and mulching, seeding, edging, trimming, planting)
- Identify, prepare and apply herbicides, pesticides, chemicals, fertilizers
- Maintain turf by mowing, seeding, sodding, edging of sidewalks and watering
- Assist with tree trimming, clean-up and removal
- Operate lawnmowers and various equipment used in landscaping and parking lot maintenance
- Perform general and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment (i.e., sharpening blades, changing oils, lubricants, filters, belts)
- Operate pressure washers to clean exterior building cleaning
- Work as a team member with others in coordinating all phases of work
- Adhere to OSHA standards, employ safe practices, and follow safety policies/procedures
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
- One (1) or more years of related work experience
- Experience performing commercial landscape maintenance
- Experience operating commercial lawn mowers and small power equipment
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to operate a University (equipment not specified)
Proposed Salary
$15.84 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
