Mountain Ltd. has an opening for an OSP Engineer in the Statesboro, GA area.

Job Description

This person must be an experienced Outside Plant Engineer who can manage an assigned area (group of exchanges) with little supervision. The role involves local reporting to the area manager, meeting with jurisdictions, customers, and joint utilities as needed, and handling all OSP engineering duties in accordance with client standards and business directions.

Daily reporting to the client manager is required. The candidate must hold a valid driver’s license, have a personal vehicle, and possess the physical ability to perform all necessary field work and detailing.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Capable of performing most all OSP engineering tasks
  • Proficient with basic systems and programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with client systems – FROGS, Varasset, Site Tracker, DPI/QPort
  • Knowledge of most types of OSP designs – aerial, buried, U.G. new build designs
  • Understanding of copper and fiber technology
  • Familiarity with copper cable counts (binders, groups, super groups) and fiber assignments (12‑fiber increments)
  • Effective communication skills – oral and written
  • Ability to participate in utility discussions with government entities (cities, townships, counties, DOTs, etc.)
  • Ability to collaborate with partner departments on OSP project designs (operations, central office, construction, etc.)
  • Comprehensive understanding of OSPE requirements, including customer‑facing skills and operational duties of partner departments
  • Capability to manage complex OSPE tasks such as Ethernet designs (DSAT/BDTs), basic road moves, DSLAM deployments, and copper/fiber cable right‑sizing
  • Ability to produce complete OSPE designs
  • Drafting, material identification, and ordering experience
  • Permitting requirements knowledge
  • Private ROW negotiation experience
  • Project milestone establishment skills
